Colorado Springs Trackchair Program

The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Trackchair program aims to provide sustainable access for all to our parks and open spaces. This program utilizes all-terrain mobility devices to assist visitors with mobility challenges in exploring the trails and open spaces in Colorado Springs.

This program, brought to the community through the Recreation Services and Regional Parks, Trails and Open Space Divisions, removes barriers and allows visitors to explore designated trails not suitable for regular wheelchairs. To ensure the safety and comfort of participants, each unit is equipped with rear stability wheels, powered reclining chairs, a four-point harness, and attendant controls for volunteers or PRCS Staff to assist with maneuvering.

Important Information for Hike Participants
-Age and fit requirements: Participants must be at least 5 years old, properly fit into the Trackchair, and be able to use all required safety equipment. If these requirements are not met, staff reserve the right to cancel the hike.
-Weight limit: The maximum weight capacity for the Trackchair is 250 pounds.
-Chair transfers: Park staff are not able to assist with transferring individuals into or out of the Trackchair. Participants must be able to transfer independently or bring at least one companion (maximum of five) to provide assistance during the transfer. At minimum, a companion is required on the hike.
