Hopefully you have seen our posts before about Seedlings Braille Books. But if not, Seedlings is a non-profit organization “dedicated to increasing the opportunity for literacy and education by providing high quality, free and low cost braille books for children.”
Seedlings was founded in 1984 by Debra Bonde who realized that braille books and materials were hard to come by and very expensive. She started making her braille books out of her basement and that first year delivered 221 books to children with low vision. She has since moved out of her home office and gained a group of volunteers and staff who supplied over 48,000 braille books and materials to those in need in 2023.
If your child is blind or has a visual impairment, be sure to sign up for the free braille book program yearly.
