Therapeutic Recreation Opportunities
Parker’s Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Program is designed to ensure individuals have equal opportunity to participate in quality leisure experiences, regardless of ability level. This is accomplished through adaptive programming, as well as including individuals with disabilities in programming with their typical peers.
Please read the Parker Therapeutic Recreation Program Policies (pdf) and complete a Therapeutic Recreation Assessment Form. One annual assessment per participant is sufficient for all TR programs.
TR Programs
TR Programs may include weekly socials, adaptive sports and fitness, music classes, adaptive swim lessons, annual RunAbilties FUN Walk/Run/Roll event, and more. View the current TR Activity Calendar (pdf) for a complete list of opportunities or register online.
Parker Recreation also offers Adaptive Training, including fitness training, swim lessons and climbing wall sessions.
Programs are designed to minimize barriers, increase leisure awareness, promote skill building, celebrate individual successes and promote overall well-being for participants.
Special Olympics
Train as a Special Olympics athlete! Athletes will improve skills and personal fitness, under the supervision of experienced coaches. Basketball, swimming, soccer, flag football and softball seasons are offered. For Special Olympics information, email Teri Koren.
Day Program Facility Use
Day programs serving individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities may use Parker Recreation facilities at a discounted or waived fee, through the use of TR scholarships; complete the TR Group Funding Assistance application. All visits must be scheduled with the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator to ensure space is available. Prior to your visit, please compete the Day Group Waiver (pdf).
