As the weather heats up and the winds keep blowing the fire danger is ever increasing. Peak wildfire season in Colorado runs May through September but fire can strike at any time. The Colorado State Forest Service has some suggestions to keep the risk of fire down near your home. This can include raking and removing pine needles near your home, trimming and removing tree branches that overhang your roof, keep firewood piles at least 30 feet away from the house, have your house number posted near the end of your driveway in non-combustible, reflective, and easily visible signage. And always report any fires to 9-1-1 immediately.
