Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a neurodegenerative condition that is hereditary and is caused by a deficiency of the motor neuron protein SMN which affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, causing problems with eating, breathing, crawling, walking. August is the time when we try to raise awareness, share resources, and educate the community on what SMA is and what we can do about it. Check out an event near you.
