DeafBlind Awareness Week was established in 1984 and is always celebrated the last week of June in honor of Helen Keller’s birthday on June 27th. Deafblindness is a combination of sight and hearing loss that affects a person’s ability to communicate with others, access their environment, or acquire information. It can also be called dual sensory loss or multi-sensory impairment. This week is a time to celebrate all those who work hard to make information available for all.
