Like Me by Laura Wifler is a wonderfully written book about real life with a child with special needs.
My typical kids love reading a story about a home and life that is so similar to theirs – hours spent in waiting rooms, quietly self-entertaining during therapy sessions, finding ways to creatively include a sister who is different than them.
This book helps everyone have a window into the lives of those raising a differently-abled child – the joys and triumphs on one side of the coin and the grief and struggles on the other.
My favorite line in the book is ‘God made everyone unique….and if we look closely, we can learn a little bit about God through each of them.’
